The Danger of the Christian Bubble
Last night at our monthly session meeting, the elders and pastors began a new study based on the book They Like Jesus, But Not the Church: Insights from Emerging Generations. It was written by Dan Kimball, who serves as Pastor at Vintage Faith church and is an evangelical leader in the emerging church discussion.
If you're interested in learning along with the Session, check out this introductory video of people's impressions about Jesus versus the church:
After thinking through people's impressions of Jesus and the possible stages of the Christian life, take some time to reflect on some passages from the Scriptures: Matthew 5.13-16, John 17.15-18, Matthew 28.16-20 and Acts 1.7-8.
Then, check out this second video where Dan helps us think through the implications of these issues for the mission of our church:
After thinking through the implications of this video, would you take some time to pray for your witness as a follower of Jesus in our post-Christian culture?
Then, would you take some time to pray for the Session, Pastors and Staff of Good Shepherd, that we would lead the congregation in connecting with God, growing in faith and serving in love?
