Serve at SHIP!

Good Shepherd is welcoming SHIP (Self Help Interfaith Program) again this year from July 2 through July 15 and servants are needed to host 4 to 6 men (and possibly women) while they stay on campus.

Willing servants are needed to spend an evening and sleep over until 7:30am the following morning. One Night Host is essential, or you can team up with a friend, if you would like.

Dinner Hosts are needed to prepare a meal for approximately 8 to 10 people. Meals are in on campus at 6:30pm each evening and are frequently prepared by small groups, families or individuals. Meals can be prepared and dropped off, or you can chose to stay and eat with the guests.

Day Hosts are volunteers who spend 3 to 4 hours at the church on a Saturday, Sunday or on July 4th allowing the guests to stay on campus during these times.

You are invited to join us this year! Please see Pete or Judy on the patio after worship gatherings for more information about our current needs and to sign-up.

Here is a little background and history of SHIP at GSPC: SHIP is an ecumenical venture of volunteers from approximately 19 different churches which provides a four month residential program designed for permanent self-sufficiency. Hosting our first guests in 2003, this is GSPC's 9th year in SHIP, we estimate that, during the past 8 years, we've served over 50 guests and that 150 to 175 Good Shepherd volunteers have participated in SHIP.

Having learned the joy that comes from simple acts of love in Christ's name, many of you have helped each year. But, we are overjoyed each time someone new joins with us to serve. If you are new to SHIP or would like a little more information contact Pete Murphy at the email address below and I'll be happy to send you several PDFs that describe the program. Thank you for your ongoing support of SHIP.
