Pastor's Note | Monday, March 4th

We're mid-way through the season of Lent, a time during which we take on new disciplines. For some it is fasting in which we voluntarily do without food or certain foods in order to direct our attention to the presence of Jesus. Others begin to exercise new practices of prayer, times of silent reflection, study, or finding time to be alone in the presence of God (often referred to as the practice of solitude).

On Ash Wednesday I came across a short video featuring Father Brennan Manning in which he focuses on the love of Jesus for you and me. He says, "I believe that on Judgment Day, the Lord Jesus will ask us one question and only one question, 'Did you believe that I love you, that I desired you, that I waited for you day after day, that I longed to hear the sound of your voice?'"

As we journey through Lent, as we focus on the messages about being "not a fan but a completely committed follower of Jesus" (see more), as we face the challenges of our daily lives, I pray that you and I will hear Jesus' voice inviting us into his presence, into his joy, and into his unconditional love.
