Learning Backward, Planning Forward

In recent weeks, in this space, we have both reflected upon 2015 and looked ahead toward 2016. It’s an important exercise, not only looking ahead to the future, but processing where we’ve been. Just this week, I ran across a quote from John Dewey, who stated, "We don't learn from experience, we learn by reflecting upon experience."

It is my hope that we can continue to do so, becoming a learning community who not only reflects individually while reading the Weekly, but together as a community of faith. May we learn from our experiences as we trust God for the future He is leading us into.

I invite you to do exactly that at our Annual Congregational Meeting on Sunday, January 24th at Noon. Instead of an evening meeting, as we’ve done in year’s past, our Session has opted to meet in the early afternoon, to allow as many people as possible to attend.

We will not only “learn by reflecting on experience,” we will discuss ongoing initiates in our denominational home, ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians, as well as new initiates in ministry and mission that our staff and Session are focusing upon in 2016.

Please pray for this time together - that it would be important and meaningful, as we seek to discern all that God has for us this year. And please plan to be there!

Put it on your calendar now: Sunday, January 24th at Noon!

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Curtis
